Paxton House Event 2010

Paxton House

The origin of Maremmas in Britain can be traced back to Paxton House when the first Maremma arrived in 1931. A dog, Drago, was imported as a present to Mrs. Helen Home Robertson of Paxton House by family friend, Marchese Chigi.

As part of the Paxton House 250th anniversary celebrations, Helen's son, John Home Robertson and the Paxton Trust invited the MSCGB up to Bewick-upon-Tweed on Sunday 20th June 2010. We all had a lovely day, relaxing on the lawns with access to the beautiful estate grounds and those bringing a Maremma also got the chance to have a free guided tour around the house.

Our Chairman, Tony Whatley, presented John Home Robertson with a Maremma figurine as a gesture of thanks from the MSCGB and John also did us the great honour of agreeing to become our Patron.

Thanks go to John and the Paxton Trust, especially Helen who was key to making our day so enjoyable.
