MSCGB Championship Show October 2007By James Hague
![]() It was a bright sunny day in Chesterfield for the Championship Show. The venue is always appreciated as it stands next to Hasland Park with its beautiful Autumnal colours and pretty fountain. A great place for the dogs to stretch their legs after long journeys. Sue Hewart-Chambers was our judge for the day and though the turnout could have been better she had a good few Maremmas to go over. She was ably helped by our steward, Billy Fulton who had to clear the ring of fallen leaves and conkers before the show could commence. Two of the bitches and their owners had a day to remember. Sonymer Gaiety was awarded Best Bitch, her third CC, making her up to Champion to the delight of her owner, Anne Latimer (photo below). ![]() Hague’s Champion Induna Sudden Impact came along for a day out as she is nearly 12 but still looks longingly at the gate if left behind on Show Days. To our delight she not only won her class but took best veteran and the Barry Hewitt Memorial Stakes, (photo below). ![]() Sue presented a lovely trophy in memory of her husband who sadly died a year ago. Once the judging had finished everyone retired to the hall to eat Penny Whatley’s home made sweet & sour pork and the now infamous apple pie with lashings of cream. Coffee and sweets finished off the meal which gave everyone a chance to chat and catch up with Maremma news. The day was rounded off by Sue presenting the winners with their trophies and the calling of the raffle with plenty of wins for everyone.
